Well done to everyone who worked hard last year in preparing a bid to Big Lottery under the myplace funding stream… we did it!!! Stockton's myplace project has been awarded £4,995,250 funding to create a new state-of-the-art facility, which will be open in Autumn 2011.
This new purpose built youth centre will provide a wide range of exciting activities, open to all young people aged 11-19 years and includes sports, learning opportunities, support services, health, games, arts, drama and music. It will include loads of new social facilities such as discos, recording and music studio, café and a performing arts area. It will be open 7 days a week.

Right now we’re trying to design a building which will be fun, iconic and attractive. Young people have been involved with our team of architects and come up with 4 concept design ideas for this fabulous and exciting new building. We want to know what you think, after all this is your centre! Why not have your say, email us with your likes and dislikes.
John: I think that the My Place bid is important for the young people of Stockton on Tees. A central location (High Street) would be good with free transport from outlying areas and a fair pricing policy to attract all young people.
lynsdey: I think this is a top thing for Stoctkon!!! I hope it can have a good chill out area for young people on a weekend cos there is nowhere for us to go just now like!
mattie: The youth service could really do with a huge centre in the centre of stockton somewhere. like that big carpet shop opposite arc. They could convert that into like a massive youth club / activities centre!
David: If you do open a youthy can u let older ones in on weekend because most ov the youth have nothing to do and it will help get us off the streets
Mattie : more rental facilities for external groups with more publicity
Louise : There is nowhere to go and nothing to do at the top end of thornaby so we need something doing
Danielle : Its really good that this might happen.
Kirsty : I hope something decent gets done!!!
Kathryn : I think there should be more publicity about local youth facilities in my area because I don''t hear about what is available and I don't even know where there is any
annon: Can we buy a new building?
